Micro-hydro power projects

SOCIO-TECHNICAL project on Micro Hydro Power Plants carried by Dr. Abdul Basit with Dr. Rihab Khalid from University of Cambridge to investigate:

• Experiences of local communities with standalone distributed energy systems and projects, including considerations of gender.
• Energy needs of communities and whether they have been met by the standalone systems.
• Extent and causes of social failures of standalone energy projects in the region; and
• Opportunities to use social analysis to enable standalone energy projects to contribute more effectively to poverty alleviation, women empowerment, and sustainable development.

The project observes both generative and degenerative projects across different districts of KP. The underlying fact which makes the difference is the socio-economic integration of these projects with special emphasis on women related issues.
