Energy Baseline
Energy baseline survey in refugee villages in Pakistan.
The project was funded by UNHCR and was aimed at energy needs assessment of refugees living in the Refugee Villages (RVs) in Pakistan. This project was implemented in three RVs in Pakistan. The project assessed energy requirements of the refugees at household level and that of community facilities including schools and Basic Health Units (BHUs). More than 120 surveys corresponding to 1200 households and 6000 individuals were conducted. The survey covered social, economic, and technical aspects as part of the needs assessment. Detailed analyses were performed, and solutions (mainly based on solar) were recommended for diminishing energy poverty in the refugee villages. Standalone decentralized energy solutions were a major part of the recommended solutions. This survey was a basis for a multi-million Dollar project, currently being implemented by UNHCR Pakistan.
