EMS Implementation
Energy management system implementation in SME’s of KPK
The project was funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization under its project “Sustainable Energy Initiative for Industries in Pakistan”, which involved implementation of ISO-50001:2018 (Energy Management System – EnMS) in 50 industrial units in Pakistan through a consortium model involving a certified energy manager, certified energy auditor, and an academic partner. CEMS was awarded the project to lead the KP consortium for this project through Contract#3000072385.
- CEMS was awarded the project to implement ISO-50001:2018 in five organizations in KP. The project involves a baseline energy audit followed by implementation of energy management system according to ISO 50001:2018, and subsequently gauging the energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement as compared with the measured baseline. In addition, CEMS team also trained more than 50 industrial workers on a series of courses encapsulating the energy management system, ensuring sustainability of the measures taken.
- CEMS team conducted surveys of different energy units consisting of electrical, mechanical and hybrid systems. Recommended the use of solar energy, wherever possible and ensured behavioral changes through awareness and training sessions.
- Energy assessment and energy audits in the following organizations was conducted. Based on this energy efficient green solutions were designed and provided to the industries based on their operational procedures. Two industrial units reported 5% annual energy saving, which translates to a significant financial saving and resulted in GHG emissions reduction. CEMS conducted sub-projects in the following organizations as lead of the consortium.
- University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar Pakistan
- Qarshi Industries Pakistan
- Coronet Foods English Biscuit Peak Freans
- FF Steel Pvt limited Peshawar
- Imran Marble Peshawar
